Shia LaBeouf grabs lunch with a mystery woman in Pasadena

Shia LaBeouf has been embroiled in controversy since his former partner FKA twigs alleged she was abused – emotionally and physically – by him during the course of their relationship.

And the 34-year-old Honey Boy star was spotted enjoying an intimate lunch with a mystery woman in Pasadena, California on Tuesday afternoon.

LaBeouf, still sporting a scruffy beard and longer hair, arrived to his casual lunch date on a bicycle.

Shia donned a black windbreaker that coordinated with his overstuffed backpack and a pair of black biker shorts.

He wore his sunglasses on the back of his head and, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, opted to go mask-free for his outing on Tuesday.

As for the star’s lunch date, the mystery gal looked noticeably makeup-free and sported a trendy mullet-style haircut.

Both the unidentified woman and Shia had noticeable smiles on their face as they dined and conversed.

LaBeouf, being that he arrived via bike, seemingly parted way with the woman after their lunch date came to a close.

Shia’s care-free outing on Tuesday comes a little over a month after FKA Twigs opened up further about her tumultuous relationship with the actor in an interview with The Face.

Prior to speaking to The Face, the 33-year-old songstress also delved into the abuse allegations with CBS This Morning’s Gayle King.

The songstress and the American Honey star met on the set of his movie Honey Boy in 2018 and dated for nine months, before splitting in May 2019 over what was reported at the time as ‘conflicting work schedules.’

He wrote the film, which was inspired by his early life as a child actor and his relationship with his abusive father, whom LaBeouf portrayed thanks to prosthetics.

In her chat with I May Destroy You’s Michaela Coel, FKA said: ‘I felt like I was holding on to somebody else’s dysfunction. And now I feel like I’ve given it back to him. It’s his to hold and rightly so. He can hold it because it’s not mine.’

She added that she thought it was ‘important’ to publicly discuss his alleged abuse.

‘You know, it’s important in this day and age that everybody’s able to be accountable for their actions,’ she continued. ‘And I don’t mean in an “outrage culture” kind of way, because I’m not really here for that either.’

She added that speaking up about the abusive relationship had been ‘a big relief’ and hoped that it could be a ‘real step’ for other women caught up in abusive dynamics.

Earlier in February, FKA twigs sat down with Gayle King for CBS This Morning, but she shut down the interviewer after King, 66, asked why she hadn’t left LaBeouf.

King asked: ‘Nobody who’s been in this position likes this question, and I often wonder if it’s even appropriate to ask … why didn’t you leave?’

The singer replied, ‘I think we have to stop asking that question,’ citing the complicated dynamics of being in an abusive relationship.

‘I know that you’re asking it out of love, but like, I’m just going to make a stance and say I’m not going to answer that question anymore because the question should really be to the abuser, “Why are you holding someone hostage with abuse?”‘ she continued.

‘People say, “Oh, it can’t have been that bad, because she would’ve left.” And it’s like no, because it was that bad, I couldn’t leave.’

FKA twigs claimed that LaBeouf’s gaslighting extended even to physical abuse.

‘Eventually it did become physical,’ she explained. ‘There were certain instances where he would push me and say, “You fell.” And I would get really confused and think maybe I did.’

She feared that the actor and screenwriter might try to kill her after he threatened to slam his car into a wall while driving on Valentine’s Day in 2019 if she didn’t confirm her love for him.

Even those who saw LaBeouf’s apparent abuse did nothing to help her.

After the Valentine’s Day threat, she tried to get her bags out of the car once LaBeouf finally stopped at a gas station.

She said he ‘threw’ her against the car and started ‘strangling’ her while three men could seemingly see everything.

‘They did nothing. They just watched us and I felt so alone,’ she said. ‘That’s why I wanted to come forward. Victims and survivors shouldn’t have to feel alone.’

FKA twigs (real name: Tahliah Barnett) has accused LaBeouf of terrorizing her at night and claimed she woke up to find herself being strangled multiple times over imagined slights, like his claims that she had been masturbating in bed next to him or that she was secretly plotting to leave him.

‘He made me feel like I wasn’t allowed joy, basically. That’s what it boils down to: I wasn’t allowed joy unless it directly revolved around him,’ she added.

The songwriter has also accused the Nymphomaniac star of knowingly giving her a sexually transmitted disease.

In a court filing for the lawsuit Barnett filed against him, LaBeouf wrote that he ‘denies generally and specifically each and every allegation’ in her complaint.

He claimed to have apologized to ‘those he had hurt’ but ‘denied each and every’ assault allegation by the singer and wants her to pay his legal costs.

His lawyers added that ‘none of the acts alleged were based on sex and/or the conduct was not sexual’ as they try to get the sexual battery allegations dismissed.

The actor also told The New York Times that ‘many’ of the allegations were not true, and that he has ‘no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations.’

He only partially apologized, saying, ‘I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say.’

LaBeouf that he owed the women ‘the opportunity to air their statements publicly and accept accountability for those things I have done.’.

The actor said he was in therapy and in a 12-step program, although he is ‘not cured of my PTSD and alcoholism.’

Following a short delay, LaBeouf’s then-girlfriend Margaret Qualley, 26, split from him after the allegations became public, and she was reportedly aware of the ‘backlash’ she received for staying with him as long as she did.

Other partners also described lesser forms of abusive behavior.

Songwriter Katy Rose has also alleged that he ‘groped’ her ‘violently’ at a party in the Hollywood Hills, while stylist Karolyn Pho has joined Twigs’ lawsuit.
