She’s set to make her debut on the Channel 4 military training series on Sunday.

But new SAS: Who Dares Wins recruit Esther Whiting almost didn’t make it at all after coming close to losing her life in a horror drive-drive car crash as she headed home from her job at a strip club.

The 28-year-old, who The Sun reports was addicted to drink and drugs at the time, was told that medics worried she wouldn’t survive, with Esther believing her drink was spiked at the club.

Close call: SAS: Who Dares Wins recruit Esther Whiting came close to losing her life in a horror drive-drive car crash as she headed home from her job at a strip club

Esther had been performing at the adult venue in a bid to raise money for an expensive tattoo apprenticeship, when disaster struck on her drive home, resulting her being in a near-fatal crash.

According to the publication, after pulling through the crash, Esther was charged with drink-driving, though she maintained that her drink was spiked and that she did not ‘voluntarily drink alcohol’ on the night.

MailOnline have contacted representatives of SAS: Who Dares Wins and Channel 4 for comment.

Following her ordeal, it’s said that Esther quit drugs and her job at the strip club, with the star now living a healthier lifestyle and is focused on living a more positive life.

With that new attitude, Esther then signed up to appear on SAS: Who Dares Wins in a bid to make her family proud after years of feeling like she was a ‘disappointment’ to them.

She told The Sun: ‘Having grown up feeling like I was the family disappointment due to the choices I had made in my life – being a stripper – I needed something that I could make myself and my family proud of.

‘I needed something to focus on. I have made many life choices but I wanted this to be something my family would be proud of.’

Host Ant Middleton and fellow show stars Mark ‘Billy’ Billington, Jason ‘Foxy’ Fox and Melvyn Downes told how this year’s show is the toughest in its six-year history, and Esther most definitely agreed.

She said: ‘It was nothing like I imagined – it was far worse – and a hundred times harder than they make it look on the TV. It was the most brutal thing I have ever experienced, but I am utterly grateful to be one of very few people that will ever experience this.’

Meanwhile, the Ascot native went on to say how she would turn down the opportunity to join the Special Forces if ever asked as she’s ‘not cut out for that’.

After getting a taste of what it could be like, she insisted that despite having ‘respect’ for those in the Special Forces and the Army, there was ‘no way’ she could hack the primitive toilet facilities.

‘Following a number of discussions Channel 4 and Minnow Films have had with him in relation to his personal conduct it has become clear that our views and values are not aligned and we will not be working with him again.’

Talking about his exit, Middleton claimed that he was dropped from SAS: Who Dares Wins due to ‘butting heads’ with the team after he said it had become ‘more of a reality show’.

He features in the up-coming series as he was axed after filming had been completed.
