The 25-year-old labourer was appearing on Lorraine on Tuesday, when he said that he had tried reaching out to his 15-year-old sister before appearing on the show.
However, it was only after he recently departed the villa that he was able to FaceTime her and make contact – she has never been pictured.
‘It’s the first time I’ve ever seen her’: Love Island’s Brad McClelland has revealed he has made contact with his 15-year-old younger sister, who he’s never known, after leaving the villa
Brad told Ranvir Singh: ‘I grew up with my nana, my dad wasn’t on the scene. I always knew I had a younger sister, I tried to get in contact with her for years, searched for her on social media, all I had was her name.
‘She reached out to me and I FaceTimed her a couple of days ago.’
He continued: ‘If anything has come from my Love Island experience…. I found love in a different way. She’s 15 and that’s the first time I’ve ever seen her. It means the world to me.
‘I’m one of six and my brothers and sisters are massive for me. I try to spend as much time as I can with them. To have another sibling is a massive thing.’
Growing family: The 25-year-old labourer was appearing on Lorraine on Tuesday, when he said that he had tried reaching out to his 15-year-old sister before appearing on the show. However, it was only after he recently departed the villa that he was able to FaceTime her
On his bond with his nan Joyce, Brad said: ‘I’ve lived with my nana since I was four years old… we’ve been together, just me and her and our little dog for 21 years.
‘We argue a lot but it’s natural… the respect I’ve got for her is massive. She basically ended her life to look after me.’
When asked why he is so nice, Brad said he gets it from his nan who was the first person he saw when he arrived home.
Positive outcome: Speaking on the show, Brad said: ‘If anything has come from my Love Island experience…. I found love in a different way. She’s 15 and that’s the first time I’ve ever seen her. It means the world to me’
He added: ‘She didn’t watch the show before I went on. She had no idea what it was, I think she complained [about] a few things that were happening on there!’
On his relationship with Lucinda Stafford in the villa, Brad said: ‘We got along so well, everything was easy-going. I just wish there was a bit more time for people to see what we had.
‘Everyone in the villa could see it, I could see it. You didn’t get much time in that situation, one of us had to go.’
Brad was also asked if he wished he had left the villa with Lucinda, to which he said that his relationship with her had more to it than was shown in the programme.
Missed opportunity: On his relationship with Lucinda Stafford in the villa, Brad said: ‘We got along so well, everything was easy-going. I just wish there was a bit more time for people to see what we had’
‘I wish we’d had more time to show people what we had,’ he added.
And on Lucinda moving on with Aaron Connolly, Brad said he didn’t mind.
‘Me, Aaron and Hugo were all going for Lucinda, who wouldn’t?’ he said. ‘I came out on top when I was in there. Aaron has to go for what he thinks is right. When I’m out, I’m out of the picture. He can crack on.’
Candid: Brad also recently admitted he ‘wished he said a bit more’ to Lucinda Strafford before he left the Love Island villa
The labourer chose to walk away from the villa and let Lucinda have a chance at finding love during Wednesday’s episode of the ITV2 show, after they were voted the least compatible couple in a public vote.
Speaking on Sunday’s episode of Love Island: Aftersun, Brad said he may have thought more about leaving alone had he had more time while his former partner in the villa Rachel Finni appeared on the show from home as she is self-isolating.
Host Laura Whitmore asked: ‘She didn’t leave with you when she could have. You were such a gent but wast here a bit of you thinking, ‘come with me?”
Brad said: ‘I didn’t really think too much into it. The next day, I wish I had said a bit more but you just didn’t get the time.’

He added that Hugo Hammond and Aaron Francis were also both vying for Lucinda’s affections as soon as she entered the villa.
The TV star also took a playful swipe at Aaron after Lucinda swerved away from him when he tried to kiss her in Sunday’s main show.
He said: ‘Me, Aaron and Hugo were all into Lucinda. To be fair, who isn’t? We all had a three horse race and I came out on top and she didn’t swerve me, did she?’
