After tapping visual artist Distortedd for a wild take on its Instapump Fury, Reebok is continuing the “It’s A Man’s World” campaign with a Daytona DMX designed by Sanne Poze, founder of the popular Girl On Kicks (aka GOK) blog/Instagram page. Known for mixing streetwear and high fashion in equal measures, Poze has crafted a luxurious take on the ’90s running silhouette.
Two different shades of purple appear on the uppers, which also offer a veritable medley of materials. Sturdy fabric serves as the base, and is quickly overlaid with luxe suede, premium pony hair and slithering snakeskin-printed leather mudguards. All these regal tones are offset slightly by orange piping that runs around the collar.
Moving to the rear, bright fuchsia heel tabs serve as a canvas for the shoe’s duo of motifs, both of which are presented in black block letters. “Girl On Kicks” adorns the left foot for a nod to Poze’s pages. Meanwhile, “It’s A Man’s World” is crossed out via an orange slash on the right foot for a direct acknowledgement of the collection’s female-first ethos. A chalk white midsole with an orange midfoot shank offers a finishing touch of style, and is loaded with DMX cushioning for comfort.
This marks the 4th release in the “It’s A Man’s World” collection, following up Distortedd’s aforementioned Instapump Fury, produca WondaGurl‘s Aztrek 96 and designer/activist Jazerai Allen-Lord’s Club C. A drop from Black Contemporary Art founder Kimberly Drew will conclude the offerings later this spring.
The GOK x Reebok Daytona DMX is set to release on the Reebok webstore February 7 for $140 USD.
