Keeping Up With The Kardashians: Kim Kardashian meets with President Trump at White House

Kim Kardashian traveled to Washington, DC to speak with President Trump about criminal justice reform on Thursday’s episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians

The 39-year-old reality star met with three women whose lengthy sentences for non-violent crimes were commuted by Trump in a February 2020 order granting clemency to 11 people.

She also joined Alice Mary Johnson, 65, a woman whose life sentence she’d successfully urged Trump to commute in 2018 after she had already served 22 years.

‘They’re so nervous,’ Alice said of the three women. ‘Imagine, two weeks ago they were in prison. Now, they’re with Kim Kardashian at the White House.’

Kim and Alice worked together to get the women to the Capitol, where they met the president and told their moving stories to Trump’s staff—including his daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner—to put a human face on the issue.

When Kim first heard about the three women having their sentences commuted, she recalled, ‘I was so happy, and I called Jared immediately and said, ”This is so amazing, but these women need a moment.” I really felt like everyone would benefit from them coming here to the White House.’

‘I do think it’s important to continue to have this topic brought up at the White House, because it’s really instrumental in opening up the lawmakers’ hearts,’ Kim said in a confessional. ‘We are gonna be looking into some new clemencies.’

Judith Negron, who was given 35 years for a conspiracy to commit Medicare fraud, thanked Trump’s staff for aiding her release, as did Tynice Hall, who was sentenced to 35 years for a first-time drug offense, and Crystal Munoz, who received 12 years for intent to distribute marijuana.

She and the group took a photo with Jared outside the White House.

Over lunch afterward, the women discussed how moved Ivanka had been by Judith saying that she didn’t want to go to sleep because she was afraid her release was a dream.

‘Every time we go and sit in front of the president and explain how the pardon process has changed so many people’s lives, it definitely opens up more doors for policies to be changed and clemencies to happen,’ Kim said. ‘So I do think it’s important to continue the fight so that other women can get a second chance, just like these women.’

Press reports from February, when Trump granted the 11 clemencies, found that nearly all of the people whose sentences had been pardoned or commuted by the White House had a connection to the president or his political base.

Alice was fully pardoned by Trump, 74, in August, and flew on Air Force One to this week’s presidential  between the incumbent and Democratic nominee Joe Biden, 77.

Before the trip, Kim was interviewed by Stephanie Gomulka for her Oxygen documentary The Justice Project, which focuses on reforming the criminal justice system.

When asked why she cared about reform, Kim said, ‘I have kids. I’m raising two Black sons, that, if you look at the statistics of who ends up behind bars, it scares me to know the system is so broken and so unfair. So anything that I can try to do to have a better life for them, is why I love doing what I’m doing.’

Kim said she’d learned an enormous amount about the justice system since working with Alice.

‘In order for the laws to change, we do need to show people that people are better than the worst choice that they’ve made in their life at one moment in their life,’ she continued. ‘There are thousands of Alices.’

Kim flew home to California after the trip, and revealed to her mother Kris Jenner, 64, what she had learned about the emerging coronavirus threat at the White House, which was grappling with its onset.

‘They basically just said, ”Don’t touch your eyes, don’t touch your mouth. Wash your hands a lot. No shaking hands. Elbow. You know, elbow people. And that’s it”,’ revealed Kim, who had put off thoughts of the pandemic because she didn’t want to ruin the trip for her group.

‘It seems like they are doing a lot behind the scenes, so I hope that it doesn’t continue to spread,’ she added in a confessional.

‘I’m very proud of you,’ Kris told her. ‘You should have a show called Kim Kardashian Goes To Washington.’

‘Maybe Kim and Khloé take D.C.?’ Kim asked, and Kris replied, ‘Yeah, that’s a good one.’

Kim during the season 19 episode also faced her terror of spiders for her daughter North, seven.

North had long wanted a pet spider, which her panicked mother had actively discouraged, saying that such a thing was ‘never going to happen’ in her lifetime.

‘I have a pretty awful relationship with spiders,’ Kim said in a confessional, as she was shown in flashback screaming when one crawled on her. ‘I absolutely hate them.’

‘North has always had an obsession with spiders,’ Khloé Kardashian, 36, told the cameras. ‘We don’t know why. It’s so ironic because Kimberly is so afraid of them. North touches spiders. North catches spiders. And I think she just wants to share her love of spiders with her mom.’

At a pet store, Kim offered a saleswoman $100 to tell North that tarantulas were mean to kids, and didn’t make good pets, but she did the opposite, and told North they were great.

To help her sister overcome her fear, Khloé brought spider wrangler Mike Morris to her house, where he put a tarantula on the head of a willing North as Kim took photos.

Inside, Kim was horrified, asking Khloé why she would bring a spider into her home, and running away at the sight of it, unable to go near her daughter.

Khloé tried again, arranging to get a tarantula from Mike and put it in her car, where Kim encountered it after a shopping trip.

‘Oh my God, what is going on?’ Kim asked, as she got into the driver’s seat and spotted the spider’s cage strapped into a seatbelt next to her.

Khloé, who was herself afraid of whales, empathized with Kim’s fear, but couldn’t believe her sister resisted trying to overcome it.

Kim finally resolved to make a real effort for her daughter, and asked Coyote Peterson, a wildlife expert and YouTube personality, to visit her home with spiders.

When he tried to get Kim to hold a spider, she screamed, ‘I can’t! I can’t! But I don’t want to! What if I don’t want to!’

North begged her to do it, so Kim knelt down and asked her daughter to make her a promise.

‘If I do this, you have to promise me we’re not getting a spider,’ she told North, who had to pinky-swear to it. ‘And you’re gonna be a nice girl with no tantrums in the morning.’

North swore, and Kim reluctantly let the spider crawl on her fingers and her head before weeping ‘Get it off, get it off!’ as North hugged her.

To get Khloé back, Kim filled her entire bedroom with inflatable whales, which her sister walked into with Scott Disick, 36, as he visited her home.

‘What the f*** is this?’ Khloé asked, laughing as she and Scott slowly removed the enormous pile of whales, which stretched all the way back to her bed.

‘The only moron that would do something like this is Kimberly,’ Khloé affirmed. ‘I’m sure she was crying doing this. You can imagine her, ”Ha ha ha!’- We got her!’

In a confessional, Kim admitted she was getting Khloé back for the spiders and for other pranks.

Elsewhere on the show, Khloé and Kim put to rest media rumors that Kim had booed Tristan Thompson, Khloé’s ex and the father of her two-year-old daughter True, at a Lakers game.

Khloé and Tristan had just reconciled after breaking up in February 2019 due to his infidelities.

‘I know that my family has the best intentions, and I know that my family just comes from a loving place,’ Khloé reflected, after Kim said she’d been there to support Tristan. ‘With all that being said, Tristan and I are in a good place right now. So I’m just happy that everything seems easy.’

In another development, Scott discovered a medical issue after he revealed to the Kardashians that he felt like something was really wrong with him.

He grew fatigued while he was playing pickleball with Khloé and he passed on going grocery shopping with Kim, who wondered if he was displaying the symptoms of coronavirus.

‘Lately, I’ve just had no energy to do anything,’ Scott said in a confessional. ‘Like I wake up, and I’m just shot. I don’t have the drive to get up and run around with my girlfriend and my kids. I just don’t have the energy. I don’t know if I’m getting old, or I’m just not in great shape. But I just wanna see if there’s anything wrong with me.’

He told Kim he wasn’t sick, just tired, but also admitted, ‘I don’t feel like this is what a normal 36-year-old feels like.’

At Kim’s urging, he called his doctor’s office, concerned that perhaps either the drugs and partying of his past had taken a toll on him that couldn’t be repaired, or something worse was wrong.

After taking a blood draw, Scott had a lengthy IV therapy treatment to replace his body’s supply of NAD, or Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, a vital coenzyme that, when missing, could lead to reduced energy, anxiety and depression.

Asked by NAD expert Dr. Phillip Milgram whether he had a lot of stress in his life, Scott privately acknowledged that he had, noting that he had lost both of his parents and gone to rehab.

‘When you use drugs or you have stress in your life, or you have medical problems… you need NAD to repair that,’ Phillip told him. ‘You need to refill your swimming pool.’

Scott’s blood tests also revealed that he had ‘dramatically’ low testosterone levels, which a nutritionist said were poor enough to make him feel ‘like an 80-year-old man.’

He recommended Scott take supplements and boost the amino acids that support testosterone production by consuming red meat, oysters, pumpkin seeds, walnuts and other relevant foods.

Keeping Up With The Kardashians will return next week on the E! network.
