On Christmas Eve she bragged on Instagram about purchasing two items of clothing once worn by Michael Jackson at an auction as gifts for six-year-old daughter North.
But Kim Kardashian wasn’t laughing Monday about an Instagram prank that claimed she also bought her eldest child the bloodied shirt worn by President John F. Kennedy when he was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, in 1963.
Branding it a ‘sick joke’, the reality star, 39, called out entertainment site Refinery29 for falling for the fake story in an outraged tweet.
Kim Kardashian wasn’t the least amused that it was reported Monday she had purchased the shirt President Kennedy was wearing when he was shot and killed in Dallas as a gift for six-year-old daughter North
The fake Instagram post used a photo from the National Archives and was shared after reality star Kim, 39, bragged Christmas Eve about buying celebrity memorabilia at auction for North
As first reported by PageSix.com, a reporter for BuzzFeed managed to capture a screen shot of the prank post along with Refinery29’s article about it.
Kim then responded to the tweet by Nina Mohan, writing: ‘WOW this is obviously fake! @Refinery29 I did not get JFK’s shirt. That is a sick joke that someone tweeted as a fake ig story that I never posted.’
The image used for the prank was a photo from the National Archives of Kennedy’s torn and blood-covered white shirt that he was wearing when he was shot dead while riding in his motorcade in Dallas’ Dealey Plaza on November 22, 1963.
The caption alongside the post read: ‘Along with the Michael Jackson’s jacket and hat, North also got the shirt John. F. Kennedy wore when he was assassinated.’
Kim revealed on December 24 that she and Kanye West had gifted six-year-old North with a jacket Michael Jackson wore to his good friend Elizabeth Taylor’s 65th birthday party in 1997 as well as the white fedora the pop superstar wore in his Smooth Criminal music video in 1988.
Kim spent tens of thousands of dollars at an auction in October to snag items that once belonged to pop superstar Michael Jackson as Christmas presents for her eldest child
Kim boasted on Instagram about successfully bidding for the late King of Pop’s jacket and how she’d had it tacked so it would fit North

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star also purchased the white fedora made famous by Jackson in the 1988 music video for Smooth Criminal
The items were among a bunch of celebrity memorabilia that went up for auction in October.
It was reported at the time that Jackson’s jacket had been sold for $65,625 to an anonymous buyer.
Kim also boasted of buying rings that once belonged to Elvis Presley as a present for her brother Rob Kardashian.
