‘Many give money and time quietly’: Magda Szubanski defends Kim Kardashian over Australian bushfire donation controversy after they starred in an UberEats advert together

They never actually met while filming their viral UberEats advert in November.

But Magda Szubanski was quick to defend Kim Kardashian after the reality star was unfairly accused of not making a donation amid the bushfire crisis in Australia.

The 58-year-old comedian tweeted on Tuesday that Kim, 39, had seemed like an ‘informed’ and ‘compassionate’ person when they spoke on the phone last year.

‘For your information, when I did the UberEats ad with Kim, I spoke to her on the phone,’ Magda told her 122,000 Twitter followers.

She reminded them that the advert had been filmed ‘weeks before’ the fires reached the scale of devastation Australians are now witnessing.

‘The very first thing she asked me was how we were going with the bushfires. She was concerned, informed and compassionate,’ Magda added.

‘Many people donate their money and time quietly,’ she concluded, implying that Kim had most likely made a donation but chosen not to disclose it.

It comes after the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star responded to a fan who had criticised her for seemingly not doing enough to help Australia.

‘Nothing gets me more heated than to see the Kardashians/Jenners talk about climate change/wildfires and not donate a penny,’ the young Twitter user wrote.

Kim responded: ‘Nothing gets me more heated than to see people think they know what we donated to and to think we have to publicise everything.’

Her sister Khloé Kardashian also gave her two cents on Twitter, posting a statement which Kim later retweeted herself.

‘Good deeds should be done with intention and not for attention,’ Khloé wrote.
