Nike Air Max 95 Utility Appers in Vibrant "Villain Red"

Nike ACG‘s bold color palettes from the early ’90s have provided inspiration for a wide swath of Nike Sportswear silhouettes this winter, and the latest pair to join in is the Air Max 95 Utility, which has released in a vibrant “Villain Red.” A beefed-up take on designer Sergio Lozano’s seminal Air Max 95, the AM95 Utility presents a re-worked construction with rubberized materials and synthetics in place of standard mesh and suede — making for a style suited to inclement conditions.

Although the climates it’s designed for may be drab, the hues and accents used on the “Villain Red” are anything but. Red, clay orange and soft grape all get time to shine on the human anatomy-inspired side panels, while a rich purple appears on the throat and base layer. A single black stripe with a small Swoosh and black toe cap bring the design back down to earth just enough. Alternating orange and pink eyestays trimmed with black, special detailing on the coral heel and flecked black laces round off the upper half.

Down below, midsoles are constructed of white EVA foam that encases a full-foot Air Max cushioning system — itself split between pink units in the heel and orange units in the forefoot. Black rubber outsoles offer deeper-than-usual tread and a ridged pattern for grip on slippery surfaces, and a signature ACG “Hike Man” hang tag completes the look.
